Reading: In reading this week we will be starting our last reading unit! We will be talking about
what makes a lifelong reader. We started today will reorganizing our libraries and talking about
how they could do the same at home! We will continue this week with learning about setting
goals for ourselves, collecting books we love, and ending with getting our readers notebooks
to be able to write more and more about our reading.


Writing: In writing this week we are continuing with our writing projects. We will be learning about
how writers get ready to publish and then publish one of our favorite pieces. We will end the
week talking about how we have become experts in our genres and how we are ready to teach
the class what we have learned. They will start planning a lesson that they are going to teach the
class for our last few weeks of school!


Word Study: This week we are continuing unit 11.  We are focusing on long vowel with a silent e
at the end. Examples: cap→ cape  plan→ plane kit→ kite We will also be adding a suffix -s to
the end.


Math:This week we will be working with 3D shapes: cylinder, cube, rectangular prism, cone, sphere.
Maybe you could do a shape hunt at your house! Later in the week we will work on measurement.


Social Studies: This week we will be starting our last social studies unit. We will be learning
all about communities. We will talk about different types of communities, how to map out a
community, and community helpers.
