Hello,

I am excited to meet with you this week to discuss your child’s progress
and what has been happening at school!

Upcoming Events:
March 20: Conferences
March 22: Conferences
March 28: Egg Crack off and 11:30 Dismissal
March 29-April 2: No School

We are still in need of volunteers for KAT on April 13th.  If you have a background check
and are able please sign up.  Thank you!

Reading: This week we are continuing to study the characters in our books.
We have been looking at the main character and noticing their relationships,
their traits, and feelings. We will also work on changing our voice to match
our main character now that we have gotten to know them.

Writing: In writing this week we are working on bringing our realistic fiction stories to life. We will talk about how when authors really liek a character they created they write a series about them. We will have our characters go on a bunch of new adventures that are filled with problems and solutions!

Word Study: In word study we are continuing with Unit 8.
In this unit we have been working on blends, digraph blends, and r-controlled vowels.
We have been practicing this through use of our letter boards, white boards,
and tapping out our words.

Math: This week in math we will be collecting, organizing, representing and
interpreting data with three categories.  We will move into solving compare story
problems. We will work on using comparison bars and comparison language to solve problems.

Science: In science we have started a new science unit: light and sound.
Today students got to discover how sounds are made in cartoons.
We became sound effect artists and made sounds for a bouncey ball and for a storm.
For the next few days we will talk about light and answer this question:
What would it be like without windows?

Here are a few science projects from last week when we were engineers:
